christmas 2012 was one to remember. after the celebration of samuel’s baptism we continued to celebrate some more! it was our first christmas as a family of f o u r. and it was a christmas where jack didn’t look to often at the camera 🙂 he was just a little busy with his cousins, how could you blame him?
after christmas eve mass, we dressed the boys in their christmas pajamas. i just couldn’t resist your pajamas mr. samuel.
then it was on to eating some yummy snacks!
we tried out all the traditions of past christmas eves, holding on to the main one, the youngest opens the first present! we had the most fun with the newest tradition started by our teenage girls, clapping after every gift was opened. it was pretty funny.
syndey loved her sling for her baby!
jack you were so excited for your thomas the train engine!
isaac and jack excited about their aggie gear!
the best part of going through the hundred + photos . . . somehow in all the craziness this year, i was able to capture each one of us mamas in the family with a truly excited look about their children’s gifts. i think they are so awesome. however, i’m not sharing all of them because i also know i have sisters who will call me and tell me to take their picture off of here. however, kindle your picture took the cake. i love it!
most of the time we had to go grab the younger baby boys to come back inside to open gifts. they were perfectly content playing together elsewhere.
absolutely love these two..
the kids went to bed rather late that night with a movie. then it was time for some family games. the best one this year, headbandz! the guys then left us to play some 42.
that evening as we sat around playing our game sam laid next to us sleeping. as the night went on we noticed he started to snore louder and louder. by the time he woke up for his feeding he had a terrible cough and his cry was so quiet.
our plans quickly changed that evening and granny took us into katy memorial hospital. luckily he tested negative for rsv and the flu. however, they gave him a steroid shot to calm down his croup and sent us by ambulance to texas children hospital a little further up the road. this was not how we expected to spend our babies first christmas. daddy and i waited for the doctor to come in the room. we weren’t seen until about 9:30 am and the doctor basically gave us all the worse case scenarios. not exactly what we were prepared to hear. but as she left the room she turned back around and said
“but it’s going to be okay it’s jesus’s birthday, he wont let anything happen to him”
wow. as shakin up as i was over the whole night and then her diagnosis, those words were surely what i needed to hear. god is so close! we were so sad to not be home when jack saw the goodies that santa brought him. my family said he slept in and when he came out, all eyes were on him. they were able to snap a few pictures as well.
they sang happy birthday to jesus just as granny has them do every year. it is the sweetest thing. again so sad that we missed it.
gramps came and picked us up when we got discharged and we came home to see a very happy jack. everyone had already left to go to their inlaws so we didn’t get to say goodbye like we were wanting. we got a little nap in and packed up to head back. nana, papaw and uncle albie came over that evening and brought us dinner and were able to stay and open gifts as well.
sam stayed quarantined in the sling just in fear of getting anything else.
it was a very special christmas over all. one where we definitely took time to count our blessings.
merry christmas 2012
